A&N offers three (3) varieties of vacuum shutoff valves: poppet valves, gate valves, and ball valves. These valves are designed to perform fully opened or closed and therefore are not intended for flow control. A brief description of each style of valve follows:
Poppet Valves are available in three (3) body styles: 90° Angle, In-Line, and Angle In-Line. These valves are made of a body, actuator, and internal poppet. A pneumatic, bellows-sealed actuator transports the poppet linearly. The poppet seal is typically elastomeric therefore base pressures down to 10^-8 Torr may be achieved. An all-metal version, with copper bonnet and valve seat, is also available.
Gate Valves are available with nominal apertures ranging from 1.5” to 12” inches. These valves provide straight-through, unimpeded flow with the smallest valve body profile. Gate valves are ideal for space- constrained applications that require maximum conductance. A central carriage or gate is transported by a pneumatic actuator within the body. In the open position the gate retracts completely from the tube aperture allowing unrestricted flow. In the closed position an elastomer seal is compressed against a sealing surface thereby providing base pressures down to 10^-8 Torr.
Ball Valves are available with port sizes ranging from 1/8” to 2 1/8”. These valves offer straight- through, unimpeded flow with minimal space requirements and ¼ turn actuation. Manual and pneumatic versions are available. Because of its unique valve seat configuration, the ball is wiped clean as it is opened. As a result, these robust valves are less sensitive to particulate contamination and are especially useful in dirty vacuum applications.
